Obama’s the man

Wow! I’m both surprised and impressed. I never thought that Obama would win. This is a positive sign IMO. That fact that both him and Huckabee won shows that Americans are ready for a change. This is shaping up to be quite a race. The campaigns this time around will surely be different from what we’ve seen over the past few years. Or at least I hope so.

It’s only Iowa. Don’t get your hopes up yet.

Thanks Joseph, I live in Iowa.. = )

Although I consider myself to be have a moderate aversion to politics, my favs came out the winners in the caucus.

What is funny, though, is that Iowa is nationally (and maybe internationally) important once every four years. Then people go back to mistakingly thinking our state is known for potatoes…

    Joe,
You’re probably right, but just once in my lifetime I’d like to have a campaign in which Vietnam is a non-issue.

Good one, Dave. I’m a Republican who never voted for Bush (though once - I mean twice - he won, I “tried” to find reasons to support the President. Tough sledding that one!)

I like what I see of Obama so far — the others do not impress me particularly. Give us a good run Barack, shake up the tired and floundering status quo!

Don’t understand much of US politics.
But wouldn’t a lady president be nice?
Our German Angela did much better then expected last year. Though, Obama seems nice on CNN.
Good luck, to all, as Europe didn’t like Bush too much!

    Herman,

I do understand a little about US politics. A woman President would be an important first, but I don’t think I want to see Hilary be that one. We have many competent and experienced women in American politics . . . she just happens to have the highest name recognition. Frankly I’d rather see Obama’s wife Michelle be President before Hilary.

I agree with you about Angela Merkel. She is impressive.
