Awesome Ana Forrest

This is a clip of one of the uber-gurus of yoga — Ana Forrest. As you can tell from the clip, there’s pretty much nothing that she can’t do. Her style is very appealing for its strength and honesty. She stresses strength in her poses, giving her yoga a nice visual appeal with the inverted poses and handstands. This looks great for upper body conditioning. She also stresses ab strength and apparently does 45 minutes a day in personal workout on abs alone.

She started out crippled in one leg, became an alcoholic and drug addict, then attempted suicide three times. She used her yoga practice to heal her emotional and physical problems, and teaches others to do the same. More on her lifestory here.

I find her work very inspirational. I only wish I was advanced enough to attend her teacher training in Hong Kong. Oh well. Maybe one day.

Thanks for the clip! A Forrest yoga studio just opened about 3 blocks from my house, I have been meaning to check them out.

Yeah, she’s great, isn’t she? I love her emphasis on strength training. She’s strong but obviously extremely flexible. Having both to that degree is incredible.

I really like what Ana Forrest does… what is amazing is that this is not some chinese infant gymnast but a grown up in her 40s. And despite the fact that the asana is astonishingly hard, the thing that always gets me abotu her demos I´ve seen others, but not this one before) is the amazing concentration or “meditation” which seems to hold them together.
