I’m eager to get my massage education underway, but I’ve hit a snag. I’ve found a school that will teach Thai yoga massage, but the teacher is having trouble with marketing and can’t get enough students. I need at least ONE student besides me to have a class.
Here’s the link to the school. They are affiliated with a top school in Thailand. I actually was going to go there until I found this local branch. The class would be all day Saturday and Sunday for two weekends in a row. The teacher is qualified to teach three levels of Thai massage and foot massage, so there’s the chance to really get some good training, if people are interested. Class is in Chinese or English.
So how about it? Anyone interested?

wish i could be there.
i’ve been learning all kinds of things about massage in terms of my athletics (Ironman), particularly how daily massages help body tissues recover faster and thereby enable a rigorous training schedule.
at first i thought there was just athletic massages (the kind trainers give to athletes) and deep tissue massages (the kind used for therapy). but my Sifu informs me there’s also therapeutic benefits with Chinese massage, and that was what he received as a student, and now one of the other students (who is Thai) tells me there’s a Thai equivalent meant to do the same thing.
best of luck finding someone to go to this class with. i’m really curious as to the types of techniques involved and how they differ from Western forms of massage.

Yeah, tuina can be used for recovery as well. IN Thailand, Thai yoga massage is used on muay thai guys. Every camp has a thai masseuse on hand. they have to in order to help the athletes recover quickly from their grueling workouts. I’ll be posting more about Thai yoga massage in the future.
