So let’s take a break from Chen style for a minute.

Zhao laoshi’s performance in this clip is awe inspiring. What great movement for any age, let alone an advanced age. I know that he’s one of the top teacher’s in Kaoshiung, and from this performance I can see why.

Notice anything interesting about the background? This is where CXW had his interesting encounter with Liao Bai.

BTW, Zhao Fu-lin may have learned the bagua taiji from Fu Shu-yun here in Taiwan before she died. Zhao wrote a book on it anyway.

I’m not familiar w/ the applications of weapons but is the 2 section staff supposed to be used like that? Seems counter intuitive to be using 1 hand grip on a long weapon.

It’s a flail. a soft weapon. it’s effect depends on speed and whiping action. like a really big nunchaku doing swipes. i doubt that’s his entire repitoire witht he weapong though. it’s just a demo.

I have been Master Fu’s student since 1988. Starting with basic Kung Fu going thru Tai Chi Chuan to Hsing I Chuan and then Bagua Zhang. She adamantly refused to teach anyone the Bagua Tai Chi unless they progressed thru the other 2 arts first, because they are all interrelated and build upon each other. Her wish before she passed away was to finish with me and pass on the Bagua Tai Chi, which was her crown jewel. This was not to be . If in fact she did teach this gentelman, he must be very special indeed. She has told me that she never taught this art to anyone because no one was with her long enough to go thru the whole regime.

I met Master Zhao Fu Lin in Kaohsiung in November. I’m from Italy and I went to Taiwan for a competition. During this competition I met him and we made Tai Chi together for hours. My Grand Master was Chang Dsu Yao. I want to come back to him. Does anybody know him and his address? Please give me information.
