I promise to make as few OT posts as possible. I prefer to make the blog about IMA, but this story just goes to show that Taiwan isn't as isolated as I thought.

My wife and I are big fans of Smallville. For those that don't know, it's an American TV show about Superman in his teenage years. We watch the show on DVD with Chinese subtitles so we're behind the American TV season.

We were watching the season three episode with Sarah Carter, who played the girl that could teleport anywhere. Here's Miss Carter doing baguazhang from the show Black Sash. Cool! There's lot of hot women on Smallville so that's not usually a big deal. But something about Miss Carter just caught me. When I saw her on the show I accidently said "Wow!"

Now my wife is pretty cool when I slip up. She said, "Oh, so you think she's pretty?" All husbands know this is past-the-red-line territory.

I said,"Well, um….she's okay." Not very convincing.

So the next day, my wife is talking with a good friend of hers who also just happens to be my co-worker, and my wife told her what happened.

"Which episode of Smallville was it?", her friend asked. My wife told her.

"Oh, that's Sarah Carter. I went to high school with her in Canada." UGH!

Who would have thought that someone we knew, let alone knew so well, would have actually gone to school with Sarah Carter, especially someone who lives here in Taipei, Taiwan?

Sometimes the world is too small a place. :)
