Getting schooled

That’s what’s happening to me on this thread over at EF. I have mixed feelings about it. On the one hand, I appreciate the education that I’m getting. I’m learning a whole lot about people who claim to be practicing the IMA’s. On the other hand, what I’m learning is disturbing to say the least.

What I’m learning is that most people really can’t tell what is real and what is not, even if they have been practicing IMA for quite a while. Even more disturbingly, many IMA people simply don’t care whether what they practice is real or not. They just don’t care.

Others think that just because the teacher can fight, that they must be teaching authentic IMA. That’s completely absurd. If a professional wrestler takes an IMA seminar on the weekend and opens an IMA school on Monday, then is that legitimate?

I don’t know what to think about all of this right now. I’ll keep reading the thread. Also, please feel free to make comments to me here.
