Don Quixote and being “pissed”

June 23rd, 2006 · No Comments · Off topic

I thought I’d write a quick word about a few things.

First of all, I’m not looking at becoming the IMA version of Don Quixote. So I won’t go charging at everything that I think is wrong in IMA or go after every teacher/system that I think is fake. I hope I made that clear here. I just don’t see any mileage in that path.

Second, I’m not really pissed at anything. Really. It’s just that I see some major weaknesses in IMA training, the ways that they are/aren’t taught, and the mythology around the arts. Are these weaknesses in my eyes? Yes, they are and others may disagree. As always, however, I encourage feedback on all my posts in the comments section. I’ve really enjoyed all the conversations that I’ve had there, even with people I’ve disagreed with. I hope to continue that.

Part of the reason for the blog is that I’m learning how to explain my ideas about IMA and training. This will be useful when talking to others in person and when talking to future students. I’m also using this blog to fight FOR my ideas. I know some of the them seem controversial and that’s why I’m blogging about them. I hope to put my ideas out there and have them subjected to scrutiny.

With those ideas in mind, I hope readers will realize that many posts like my comparison of swimming and qigong weren’t written in anger. I’m just trying to get my ideas and experiences across.
